Castor Oil Packs

A Simple Tool to Support Detox, Digestion, and Relaxation

Castor oil packs are a simple, time-tested way to support the body’s natural detox and drainage pathways. When applied to the abdomen, they can help promote lymphatic flow, improve circulation, and encourage the body to shift into a more relaxed, “rest and digest” state.

This makes them especially helpful for individuals working on gut health, liver support, hormone balance, or overall nervous system regulation.

Benefits of Castor Oil Packs*

• Supports lymphatic drainage and detox pathways
• Promotes healthy digestion and regularity
• Encourages circulation to the abdominal organs
• Helps reduce inflammation and tissue congestion
• Supports nervous system balance and relaxation

What You’ll Need

• Cold-pressed, organic, hexane-free castor oil
• Unbleached cotton or wool flannel (or a reusable pack)
• Heating pad or hot water bottle (optional)
• Old clothes or towel/sheet (castor oil can stain)

We recommend using a reusable pack, such as the Queen of the Thrones castor oil pack, for a simpler, less-mess option.

How to Use a Castor Oil Pack

  1. Protect your surface
Lay down an old towel or sheet to prevent staining.

  2. Prepare the pack
Fold your cloth into 2–3 layers (skip if using a pre-made pack) and apply enough castor oil to saturate it without dripping.

  3. Apply to the body
Place the pack directly on the skin over:
    • The lower abdomen (over or just below the belly button), or
    • The right upper abdomen (liver area, under the rib cage)

  4. Add heat (optional)
Place a heating pad or hot water bottle over the pack.

  5. Relax
Sit or lie down for 20–30 minutes. Use this time to rest, breathe, or unwind.

  6. After use
Wipe the area clean. A mixture of baking soda and water can help remove excess oil from the skin.

Frequency

Castor oil packs can be used 3–4 days in a row, followed by a rest day. This can be repeated as part of your regular routine.

Care & Reuse

• Store your cloth in a sealed glass container between uses
• Reuse 2–3 times before washing
• Wash separately in hot, soapy water (castor oil can stain other items)

When to Avoid

• During pregnancy or breastfeeding
• If you experience skin irritation
• If advised otherwise by your healthcare provider
