Children’s Immune Support
Try these natural techniques to help support and relieve your little one during times of illness.
Oral/Nasal
God’s Water - 1 Tbsp every hour
Throat soothing lollipops (Like these - Use sparingly however, as these still contain sugar. But in some children, this is the only way to soothe the throat)
Ear
Cut a garlic clove in half, place inside large cavity of the outer ear (do not force into ear canal). Place a warm - not hot - compress or warm wash cloth over the ear. You may also alternate warm and cold compress if that relieves symptoms better. Remove garlic clove.
Lymph massage (below) while holding compress
Put a few warmed (not hot) drops of olive oil around the opening of the ear canal. You may also first mix in a drop of Tea Tree essential oil.
Apply 1 drop of Para 3 to skin just in front of ear, and the bone just behind the ear
Lymph Massage
Massage lightly down the front and back of the SCM muscle (on either side of the neck). Start right behind the ear and lightly sweep fingers down the muscle to the collar bone to promote drainage. Repeat ~10 times down either side.
Drink plenty of water after performing this.
Topical
Essential oil blend:
Mix 1 drop of each with coconut oil: Eucalyptus*, Rosemary, Basil, Thyme, Marjoram
Apply to chest and feet 2x/day (put socks on after application)
Bath
1 cup Epsom salt (for a full standard bath tub, adjust as necessary for tub size or water level)
5 drops Lavender and Eucalyptus* (for a cough)
Keep the door closed to hold in warmth and humidity
Diffuse
Choose 2, add 3 drops of each to a diffuser:
On Guard (or other immune boosting blend)
Eucalyptus* (cough)
Rosemary (mucus, inflammation)
Thyme (immune support)
Peppermint (cooling, sore/scratchy throats)
Frankincense (respiratory support)
Chamomile, Lavendar, or Cedarwood (promote sleep/relaxation)
Additional tips
Recieve chiropractic care by a practitioner trained in pediatrics
Prop child up on pillows when laying down to allow drainage out of the head (please use discretion, considering the age of your child and safety of using pillows in bed)
Stay hydrated!! Drink plenty of water, preferably distilled. If you choose to drink distilled water, add 1/4 capsule of CT-Minerals to the water to help the body utilize the hydration. (Distilled water must be remineralized in order to drink)
Never underestimate the power of skin to skin contact and snuggles
*A note on Eucalyptus: choose one or two of these ways to use, or rotate between the different uses over a few days. Use the form Eucalyptus Radiata for children under 2. Do not ingest Eucalyptus orally.
